“On the 50th Anniversary of the October Revolution, the Soviet authorities presented people with a generous gift – made Saturday a Day Off”…from Internet Forum On February 27, 2017, one-day seminar will be held at Slavic-Eurasian Research Center (Hokkaido University). The topic of seminar is related to major ideological campaigns that took place in 1965-1970s and formed ideological image of Brezhnev’s epoch. From ideological and chronological perspectives, the central element of these campaigns was the campaign of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution. At the seminar Japanese and Foreign scholars will discuss several topics: from social and political reasons behind these campaigns and their results to influence and importance of ideological doctrines that were created by community groups and their interaction with narratives promoted in the campaigns initiated by the Communist Party and the State.
