52 世帯分割の急増という現象について、ナロードニキは「個人主義の高まりと集団主義精神の衰退」を意味するものとして懸念を抱いており、マルクス主義者は農村に資本主義が浸透した結果、伝統的な構造が破壊されたことの確証であると考えていた。保守的な官僚にとって、世帯分割は家父長制度の弱体化を象徴するものであり、ゼムストヴォの自由主義者が危惧していたのは、ロシア経済の基盤である農民世帯の細分化がもたらす経済的悪影響であった。農民の貧困化の原因が世帯分割にあるという観点から、1886年世帯分割を規制する法律が制定された経緯がある。Frierson, ﾒRazdel,ﾓ pp. 37-38.

57 日本で世帯分割という現象について取り上げているのは松井憲明氏である。同氏の論文「ロシアにおける農民層分解と分家」（『農業経済研究』第47巻第３号、1975年、122-131頁）は、ロシア農民層分解論の論理のなかに、世帯分割の一般的展開という事情を組み込むものである。「改革後のロシアの農民家族分割ﾑその政策と論争」（『土地公有の史的研究』御茶の水書房、1978年、117-152頁）は、農奴解放後の世帯分割の頻繁化に焦点をあわせ、特に1880 年代に本格化する分割規制への動きとそれに触発されて展開された論争とを紹介し、それを通してロシア農民家族内の財産関係における家族的所有制の近代的変質とその社会的経済的意義とを探るものである。これらの研究は、同時代の知識人や政府が農民の世帯分割をどのように捉えていたか、それが社会的・経済的にどのような意味を持つと考えられていたか、ということを知る上で有益である。なお松井氏は <<семейный　раздел>>に「家族分割」という訳語をあてているが、本稿では「世帯分割」あるいは「家族分裂」とした。
