4th Borderlands Forum in Tsushima Island
Date | November 12-14, 2010 |
Place | Tsushima City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan |
<Jointly
sponsored by the Slavic Research Center, Japan Society of Island Studies, Sasakawa Peace Foundation> |
The Slavic Research Centre at Hokkaido University is extremely happy to announce the hosting of the Borderlands Forum in Tsushima, the fourth one since the groundbreaking first borderlands forum in Yonaguni, Okinawa in 2007, followed by the second one in Ogasawara Islands in 2008 and the third in Nemuro in 2009. This is one of the biggest forum to be held with the support of the Japan Society for Island Studies and the Sasakawa Peace Foundation. As Tsushima is the window to the Korean peninsula, we have put together a panel of academics and practitioners from Busan and Fukuoka, as well as a roundtable of representatives from each local government and border studies and island studies scholars from Japan and overseas. We have also a special panel for students¡Ç presentations on their findings of a survey conducted in Tsushima. Please join us in this occasion and we look forward to another great borderlands forum.
